Input output
Technology has increased tremendously where it affects and sometimes controls us - human beings. We are sometimes so in-tuned with the culture of technology, where we end up communally think alike as a group. Information comes to us automatically through ai (input output) or in the waves of the algorithm. There is no room for us to think on our own or even hear the beauty of God’s whisper.
On the other side, technology’s growth has helped human beings develop. During COVID we had no ways of communicating in-person with one another. We were all communally isolated. However, with the help of technology we were able to reach out to loved ones, community, and work related pursuits.
How do we as Christians utilize both the goodness and unhealthy ways of technology influencing us?
Well, just like anything else in life there is a need for balance. We need to take in the good and throw away the things that take us away from God or connection from other human beings. We all have a choice to make when it comes to the amount of technology we use (free-will).
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
Application:
Take a moment to reflect on your habits of technology. Is it affecting you emotionally? Has it become a routine in your daily life to go on social media? Are you using your time to watch more television and movies?
Spend time in prayer with God. What is He saying about who you are and how He created you into being? Your mind, personality, emotions, body, etc.
Journal. Are you more in-tuned with what culture or society is saying who you are as an individual? Are you taking in the God’s Spirit to give you inspiration or are you taking in technology’s inspirations?
